Guy gets fined $50 for cycling outside a bike lane (only in America, eh?)

Takes direct action by crashing into anything blocking a bike lane: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzE-IMaegzQ&fea...

I saw this vid the other day on bikesnobnyc. The po-po seem to be going mental on cyclists for some reason over there.

That's got to be fake.

The one in the back of the lorry makes him look like a stuntman with the way he lands.

Yeah, I think you're missing the point. He was exaggerating it to show how stupid the police were on the issue.

Unless he always films his commute and happens to be really unlucky.

No i got that, but it just seems convenient that the person to get a ticket from the police is also one who seemed to fall very precisely every time.

Well obviously. rolleyes

my point is, to me, the video just doesn't feel "right". Like it might be viral marketing for something.

Hmm, didn't seem that way to me.

To me it seemed like it was a cleverly made video to prove a point.

Being a cyclist in NYC means you probably know a few wannabe media types who can help you with the camera and editing. wink

Well he himself is a film maker so not surprising he made the film.

http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/video-new-yo...

the link above says:

A New York cyclist has filmed himself crashing into bike lane obstacles to show his fury at being fined $50 for riding outside of one.

Filmmaker Casey Neistat, 29, was pulled over by an over-zealous policeman who decided to interpret the law a little too rigidly. Despite his protestations that cycling in the bike lane wasn’t always the safest place to be, he was handed a ticket.

The ensuing video, which has already had more than one million hits on YouTube, shows Neistat in a farcical and painfully funny sequence of collisions with cars, wagons and, in a final (presumably deliberate) irony, a police car.
