Buy 2nd hand or return to old bikes to road?
Discussion
£200 can get you a good road bike secondhand these days, just look for a giant defy, carrera virtuoso, dawes giro, specialised allez or something smilar... ideally something thats been used regularly adn will be well maintained.
re-commissioning old stuff is a nightmare, especially bikes that have been stored for a while. Ignoring the fact that the mtrax is heavy as lead and will be a pretty unpleasant ride, both bikes will probably also need new cables, new tyres and a few other bits. once you have spent £20 on a new chain, you will find that your cassette/jockey wheels may not run smoothly on the new chain....
nice s/h every time.

If the Dawes looks old and s
te (the worse the better) stick it on ebay with a listing to the effect of
OMG Cool Retro Dawes Fixie Colombus 531 Colnago
and then a load of hipster d!ck heads will bid on it and you will be cash rich. Even if it is not reynolds 531, columbus tubing or a Colnago - this does not seem to bother them.
Not sure about the mountain bike though.

I am genuinely tempted to try this with an old Diamond Back F&F. Any pointers on writing the advert?
