I use CycleMeter on my iPhone (having tried all the others too) and found I settled with that one - mainly because it has specific routes that you can better yourself against and also because it shows fastest speed
But yeah, Endomondo does the job really well too - I am a data geek and so love the data side of training (it's what spurs me on to better myself).

Endomondo isn't bad but it's prone to crashing on Android 2.3.4. I use Sportstracklive, the website isn't up to much but it's far more reliable. It also allows you to "play" your trip:

I use mytracks, the only feature missing is grouping of times recorded, I ride lots of routes, they display in chronological order
I typically cycle the same routes - whether my commute, or my saturday morning routes, and this is why I like cyclemeter because you tell it what route you're cycling and it stores your progress and how you do it. You can view it either chronoligically or by route. I sound like a sales person for it

I gave up with iPhone apps and bought a wireless trip computer instead - less than £40 and it shows time, distance, ave. speed and max speed, as well as permanently showing the time and current speed. Granted it doesn't plot your route or show altitude, but I found my phone battery went flat after four hours anyway so it'd always miss the last bit of my run.I haven't got up to those sorts of times yet so it hasn't been a problem, however I can see it definitely would be. There are solutions - for example turning off lots of things on the phone, brightness down etc, but also there are extra battery packs you can buy for the phone, but all are a little bulky. At those sorts of times (4hours plus) I imagaine a dedicated unit is the daddy

Well when I say four hours, that's not four hours continuous in the saddle, just fours hours out - we normally have a few drinks stops in between! I find it a pain in the arse having to keep pausing the app and starting it again to save juice (and I invariably forget), the little trip computer batteries are good for a couple of hundred hours so you can just leave them switched on and let it go into standby by itself when you stop.
I use a garmin 405 for this. The mapping/logging is great but there's no social network integration if you're into that kind of thing. The personal online profile it uses is also very good (though the mapping has recently changed to Bing from Google which was a definite step backwards IMO).
I love endomondo.
It does record maximum speed. If you look at the online record of your workout, the data box on the right hand side shows (amongst others) distance, duration, avg speed, max speed.
It is also useful for me keeping a track of my 14yr old when he is out for a ride or run. And I can have his phone shout "encouragements" at him! Actually the pep talk is pretty good, it announces cummulative distance and total and last split times.
Great App - and Free!!

I'm an Endo user too. On a BlackBerry the battery will last longer than me...
The battery on my iPhone lasts longer than me at the moment!!Looking at the map on my iPhone it looks spot on. I've signed up and looked online and it's no where near as accurate. It's telling me my top speed was 30 something kph but the graph shows 44kph. It also shows I dropped 200m in altitude in less than a minute but climbed back up nearly as fast!
I guess it's a great tool that is free so it's not fair to complain! I'm happy with it.
Endomondo now has some new features. When looking at your route on the map it now shows where events (like top speed elevation etc) were on the map as you click on the graph view.
It's a feature I always missed from other running/cycling apps. The endompndo routes (from other users) section seems to be getting much better too.
The gps does seem to be less accurate in endo than some other apps. Is that possible i.e. does it use less track points or use ones with a worse fix somehow?
The other think I noticed was the other day I cycled for 1 hour and today ran for one hour and endo thinks I used the same calories, that can't be right is it? I'm not using a heart rate monitor just the data endo asks for when you create an account like age/weight etc.
