50 Plus Teeth Single Crank

Hi

I am looking for a single crank that has more than 50 teeth on it, I have had a look around and not been able to find one so any ideas gratefully received.

It is not for an expensive bike and weight not an issue so the cheaper the better, something along the lines of...

... would be perfect, just with the more teeth the better. Ideally also only 170mm in length as I am short on cornering clearance as it is.

The rear cog is already as small as it can be so the chain goes round it without looking like a 50p so a smaller one not a possibility.

ask on www.timetriallingforum.co.uk or check the various velodrome shops online. someone might have something in the back of the garage?

there are various shimano fit 55t rings easily available but they are not cheap. you could also try fibrelyte who may have something knocking around but again it will be £££££

It is fine going along under battery on flat surfaces but power drops off when going up hill. This is the point where I start pedalling, however the gearing is so low(?) that I am doing about 180rpm at the crank and having no impact whatsoever. I have upped it from 34 to 46 which hasn't made much difference so I am looking to try and another 10 or so teeth at the front.

• Yes, there is an element of the idle about it but it is foldy enough to get on the train and means you don't get to work sweaty and with a worn out crotch (in your trousers).

ok, i thought it was for a "proper" bike hmm, so do you definately need a one piece crank and chainring? that makes it a lot harder, hopefully you can find a cheap drive side crank and use a generic ring on it? anything over 53t is quite expensive as its decidely entering time trial territory...

to be honest, you should really be ok with a 53t which is fairly common nad you wont spin it out too often.
