Foam grips - cold tea to make them stick?

It's been years since I replaced hand grips and I'm doing up a friends old bike. The handlebar is one with integrated bar ends (all one piece) and I found some cheap foam grips that I can use. Back in the day I used to use cold tea to make the grips stick to the bars and it never failed, however they were rubber not foam.

Any (cheap) tips to make the foam grips stick to the bars so they don't twist?

I sprayed a tiny bit of hairspray into the grip and slid it on, stuck like st to a blanket, tried it with the other side and it didnt! Just used brute force to work it on and that one is stuck fast, they dont spin or slip, even when very wet and muddy.

Yep. The cheapest hairspray you can fine will do the job.

+1 for hairspray, let it dry a little for best tackiness

I tried hairspray but had a real mare of a job getting the things on, was sticky.

Are you sure it wasnt spray glue.

I used curly hair specific if that helps.

I use puncture repair glue on mine, slides on lovely and once dried the grips are rock solid.
