I have just put my 30 year old road bike back on the road. The bike was used extensively by me throughout my student days cycling to and from my girlfriends place. It has spent the last 25 years in the back of the garage.

I have refurbished all the bearings, brakes, gears etc, new tyres and new tubes. I cycled a total of 15 miles and the rear tube was punctured, so I put the 30 year old tube back in. Another 10 miles and the new front is punctured too, so I have put the 30 year old tube back in the front. 2o miles on, and all is fine!

I have to say I kind of like the retro bike, but the deraileur is a bugger to adjust and has be be set up from scratch if the rear wheel is removed.
