Bike work stand at Lidl

I don't make a habit of popping into Lidl, but I read on another forum this morning that Lidl are doing bike work stands for £30. I nipped in on the way to work and picked one up, have not had it out of the box yet but it is weighty so I make the foolish assumption that it is reasonably well built.

They seem to be selling very fast, so if you are in the market for a cheap stand get down there soon-ish before they sell out. . . .

I picked one up earlier this morning and there a good purchase.
The frame has slight flex and the clamp benefited with a couple of washers to take out some play.
Other than that it will do the job just nicely, can't moan for the price.

When I went to fold it away I realised the legs where only half spread, it was stable in the half spread condition which is good.

Picked mine up this morning as well at 08.05 am they had already sold 4 with me being number 2.

you can get draper ones on ebay with free delivery for 20 quid!

ETA hang on, they seem to only hold the bike at ground(ish) level though.

You do that and let me know how you get on with the draper, they are not great and are not stable.

I bought one in Ireland a few weeks ago.

Used it a good few times, as suggested it has some flex in it but works pretty well for a cheapy.

Anyway calm head on the draper stand's are pretty basic and from experience are not worth the money and from recollection they are not work stands they are just bicycle stands for keeping the rear wheel off the ground and upright unless you have seen something different

yeah i noticed that after i had a closer look. appears to offer the same help as leaning the bike against a wall.

Pretty much I have a cheaper one than that just to keep my road bike upright and out of the way in the garage and even though it lifts the rear wheel off the ground it normally catches the spokes if you try to turn the wheel.

I shall probably go and get one of these tomorrow morning, but I keep looking at the feet and thinking I'm going to end up tripping over them and bringing the whole lot crashing down on me!

If you want one I would go today as normally the sell out by the morning, or they have the last two times I have tried to pick one up.

I picked up the cycling jacket & the full length cycling trousers from there at lunchtime. There was only one stand left . .

To the current owners?

Do you have to clamp the frame with them? I.E. If I clamped my 20kgish DH bike by the seat post would it fall over do you think?

I'm after a stand but my rapidly developing garage OCD is preventing me as it would add extra 'clutter'.

There is a wall mounted clamp available on eBay which lets you detach the arm from the plate when not in use.

It's £35 posted and appears to be British made, I may well decide to go for that rather than an actual stand.

No, it wouldnt fall over.

Around here, they all sell out before 9 am, that was 4 different stores.

I got one the last time around and it has been great.

Often thought about a workstand, never been able to justify £60+ for the limited gains over leaning the bike against a wall.

£29.95 convinced me, though, and I had the last one in Wincanton yesterday evening. First time I've set foot in Lidl...
