Recommendation for cycling glasses please...

As above, any recommendations please - not looking to spend silly money and tend to do more cycling in the summer than winter months so tinted lenses or interchangeable would probably be best.

I work on the principle that all cycling glasses get scratched and shagged fairly quickly, so spending vast sums is a waste of time. I buy these and bin them when they too scratched, they're pretty good

I suppose it depends a bit on what kind of riding you're doing. I do a lot of road riding, so think that good polarised lenses which can be changed for clear ones at night are important. For that reason I have Oakley Half Jackets. (I would buy Flak Jackets now, as they look cooler, but they didn't make them when I bought mine.)

If I was mountain biking I think there is more chance of them getting shagged pretty quick, and you're going to spend more time in the shade in forests, so a cheapish set of clear ones are a better use of your money.

yes they look st but i dont really go for the tour wannabe jawbone thing and the lenses are good enough. you can paint the frame yellow or green if you feel the need...

Another thumbsup for the bolle safety specs, couple of pairs of these. Put them somewhere safe after a ride and not the end of the world to lose and get another pair. Pair delivered was under £15 tops, clear and light tint ideal for through woods in summer.

Having said that the pair right now survived being left on the roof of the car and me driving off at Peaslake without a scratch for me to carry on using.

I had a pair of wiley SG1 googles that I used for a while, they had 3 lense choices, clear, mirrored and coloured, were very good and had foam backing that you could cut sections out of to increase ventilation. They had the choices of a strap or arms and a strap, I used the arms and a strap which made sure they weren't too tight and if they did drop off my face(especially MTB)they weren't trashed.

Eventually they got scratched and worn out, so I now just buy £10-£20 sports/safety spec's like the Bolle ones from Screwfix above and don't worry about damage.

I wanted some lighter lenses for my Flak Jackets and it was just as cheap to buy these then not have to faff about at the roadside swapping lenses over as it got dark. The G35 is pretty much the most versatile lens I've used for coping with anything from bright sunlight (not snow or desert) to riding at dusk. Bargain!

As a mainly off-road cyclist, and a contact lens wearer - I HAVE to have something over my eyes when I ride - its as important as my helmet and gloves.

I also subscribe to the notion that whatever you buy is going to get wrecked, sat on, scratched, dropped etc.

I do have nice Oakleys etc for driving and things, but I guarantee that if you wear them mountain biking, at some point you will scrape some mud off them with your gloves, and that's it - ruined. I PROMISE you this will happen

I use the Decathlon blue product glasses (look a lot like those bolle ones linked above) - £7.99, 3 sets of lenses, and a bag. Probably got 5 or 6 pairs knocking about in my garage, car boot, bottom of camelbak etc. Job jobbed.

I use Bolle and Uvex site safety glasses for riding. I have clear, yellow and tinted lenses. I get them free from work but they are only a couple of quid a pair to buy at Screwfix.

I wince when I see people riding without eye protection.

Just got those, I'd recommend them too. Saves getting a fly in your eye or grit being flicked up, a scratched eyeball is not pleasant.

Have a look at Bloc Stealth, I managed to pick some up recently for £12, they are great, comfy and light. They do different lenses, the clear ones are just slightly tinted and are fine for normal conditions, I also have a pair with yellow lenses which are really good in overcast conditions.
