World Champs - Champery 2011
Discussion
Anyone else looking forward to this?
Val di sole was pretty thrilling the other week. Anyone gonna step up to the plate and actually beat Aaron Gwin this year?
I'd be tempted to suggest Danny Hart might throw one down. But Also Sam Hill is back after inury (been saving himself specifically for this race?) And it could rain too - which is perfect for Hill.
The track looks mega - just seen this headcam -

Mega, Mega Steep. Mans track this one, like the Val di Sole was.
Annoyingly its the first time its not free, on freecaster. I think I might pay though still.
For anyone whose not watched any DH on free caster before - it is EPIC coverage, and Warner and Page are the best commentating duo of any sport, anywhere. truly hilarious and entertaining - enough to make me contemplate paying for this weekend to watch it.

Recently got into this, mainly thanks to the excellent FreecasterTV coverage.
Can't decide which I prefer, the DH or XC.......
Actually, if they combined them then that would be insane. I know there is MTB Marathons, and also Enduro in USA seems to be taking off, which, as someone who follows Rallying/Enduro off road, would be more my thing.

That headcam footage is mental. Fair play to the boy for attempting it, he's clearly pretty handy but is having trouble! The track looks mega - just seen this headcam -

There's the SixSixOne Gravity Enduro Series, currently in its first year IIRC, and from what I've heard its been a massive success (weather of the first two rounds aside!)

I really, really should've got into this, but having one weekend off in eight kinda kills it

Watch this....

Ex WC rider and "colourful" Freecaster commentator Rob Warner rides the course with a headcam whilst giving a running commentary. Priceless and really shows the incredible difficulty of the course.
As it's Warner it is obviously NSFW!!!!!!!

Love the quote from the commentator at the end - 'with balls that big, how does he sit down'!!
Amazing run, and given the popularity of MTBing in the UK, rather a shame it doesn't even get a mention on the cycling section of the BBC website.

What happened to Atherton?
Gee said he was suffering from concussion on Friday practice interview, finished 70th with about 5 crashes on his race run. Nice to see Sam Hill back on his game after all the injuries for 8th, and Fabien Barel taking 11th with quite a few broken ribs.
