The last bike I brought was a Gary Fischer (SP?) full suspension effort in c.1995 - 1996!

Where is a good place to go either online or shop wise in London (i'd prefer to go and look, sit, check for comfort and get some advice from someone who knows what they are talking about in a shop) to look for a mountain bike around the £500 mark?

I've ruled out Halfords as they're s. Places like Action, Evans.....??

I really have no idea; all help appreciated.

If you give a more specific location than "London" someone will probably recommend their preferred LBS (local bike shop) to you.

Can you not buy with the Cycle-to-work scheme? Saves loadsamoney.

South or West London preferably.....but no problem travelling to a good shop with a good selection of bikes.

In any case, I would heartily recommend Moore's Cycles in Twickenham.

They have fixed a whole bunch of random bike issues (removing a crown race anyone?) mostly for free and seem to know what they are talking about.

Can order in almost any brand.

What am I missing? I'm the owner/Director of my company (I have 3 x business partners) and I have no desire getting to work on a push bike; do I still qualify?

You qualify.

Technically the rules of the scheme require that more than half the use to which the bike is put is for journeys to and from work.

Practically, however, there is no mechanism for policing this.

Actually if you are self-employed you don't qualify IIRC because it is a salary sacrifice and obviously you have no salary!

If you find out that you DO qualify please post on here because I would love to take advantage as I am self-employed too! (Not a 6ft well-built company director with a goatee though...)
