Well, it looks interesting. In fact it's bloody good for a guy who works in Starbucks.
Can't help wondering exactly what the hubless wheel design will improve over today's best wheels.
Just love the integrated smartphone; absolute must on today's track bike.

This hubless design leaves the moving parts exposed to the elements. Sbarro's designs have also utilised this but also he has made the hub non-rotational in other designs, where the main part of the wheel rotates around the static hub.

This is problematic too though because your bearing interface needs to run at too high speeds for conventional materials. In this configuration it would be perfect for a Maglev-type of arrangement, where the rotating wheel and static hub have no mechanical link at all. You could also build into this the drive mechanism. I doubt that would be suitable for a bicycle though.

In fact, the bicyle can only really work with the configuration this chap has used - I would just worry that the bearing interfaces are too exposed to environment and general damage. I suppose though that he could shroud the hub with something like a CF protector. He might be able to engineer a low friction seal for it too I suppose.

as a concept i think its fantastic, electronic device integration would actually be a good idea, has laods of potential for racing not sure about the brake light though! he needs to read the UCI frame regs before he gets too excited though!!

It might look very 22nd century, but how does the drive work without a prohibitive amount of drag? I can see how drive is applied to the wheel, but the mechanism that holds the wheel in the correct position while drive is applied has to be something along the lines of a massive roler cranked up tight to the wheel - massive drag. Or am I missing something?

Same at the front?

I'd sure like to brake those handlebars wink
