Tour of Britain spectating

I looked back a few pages and couldn't see any Tour of Britain threads to add this to...

The Tour of Britain race is going to be going near my house in a couple of weeks and I see there are some timings on the website, how accurate will these be? The route map says it will go through Litcham at 1408 (179km into the 200km route) so would I have arrive 30 minutes early to make sure I see the race or is it more accurate than that?
I have no experience in watching cycling races what so ever!

I watched them up on the moors outside of Stoke last year
It was a horrid day and it was about 3/4 of the way through the stage

The race passed us within 15mins or so of its estimated time

I'm highly tempted to go up to London for the last day. As its laps, we'd get to see more than 30 seconds of the event!

best thing to do is download the tour manual. its in the press section on the website. there are no road closures just rolling closures with motorbikes out front. you only need to be in your chosen spot about 20-30 minutes before hand. the easiest thing to do is park up somewhere convenient and walk to a good spot, just jump on to verge as they come past... there is nothing bar the course car which is about 2 minutes ahead of the lead rider giving an update on whats happening.

Lavenham Hill on Stage 7 is 40 miles from my home. A nice distance for a Saturday morning ride out I think

Was looking at this last week... Might well see if a trip into town for the last stage is on, should be a good day out.

anyone interested can apply to help out on the stages too. just go to the website and click the volunteer bit. no idea what happens after that but you get sent this link. i assume you are given a rather fetching hi vis tabard and are abused by motorists! can't wait!!!

Stage 6 finishes within about 400m of my house.. sods law though I'm moving house that day so wont be able to see it. It's a rough old course with both cheddar gorge and the wells - priddy hill on it

Looking forward to the Devon stage. There's a city centre start in Exeter before the stage goes out over Dartmoor before finishing in Exmouth - the local council are promoting watching the start at the Cathedral then cycling along the Exe Estuary trail (about 10-12 miles) to Exmouth to watch the finish along the sea front.

Seems like a plan.

I'm going to watch on the stage based around Stoke, it takes in a decent climb called Gun Hill which is only an hour or so's ride from here.
