Specialized Globe and a triathlon

Evening,

I've decided I need a target for next year so have signed up for a sprint triathlon in June. I have recently been given a Specialised Globe and wondered if this would be OK to compete on. I'm no athlete so aim to simply finish the event. With that in mind I don't really want to spend too much.

As long as you've got a brake on each wheel, and it looks roughly like a bike, it'll be fine to compete on.

London especially has a lot of people competing on MTBs, hybrids, all sorts - absolutely no point buying something specifically for the event. If you get into your cycle training, you might start looking at proper road bikes, but cross that bridge when you come to it!

Well according to an official I spoke to in the bike rack area at the Windsor tri some did it a few years ago on a postie bike so don't feel you have to.

On the bike stage some mentalist came past be wearing only budgie smugglers and riding a mountain bike. It might have even been a single speed judging by the way he was out of the saddle and cranking his way up the hill. He was overtaking people on roadies too!

As above it's completely fine and especially so for training over the winter.

See how winter training goes and maybe you'll get the bug enough to ask Santa for a road bike, January has some great bargains....

"Most" events prohibit fixies though. So long as you are in freewheel with brakes should have no problem

some competitors can get the organisers permission to ride some random stuff if they are raising money for charity, postie bikes, penny farthings etc...
