Cyclists to Require Road Insurance

They are a menace on the roads.
They do NOT stay left, wobble and swerve dangerously at 10mph in the middle of traffic, meander in between stationary traffic and nose out into adjacent lanes not looking out for motorbikes or moving vehicles coming down the lane...
If a motorbike is classed as "Bicycle" on my Road Tax disc, proper bicycles should be required to have the same tax. And require Road Insurance.
Fact: Cyclists can cause damage to motorbikes, cars and other people. They should be required by law to have insurance.
If you are going to use the public highway, you should pay the public charge.

When they cross the road at marked crossings, there is little chance of them damaging another vehicle (of any size).

As a pedestrian-only, you can get personal injury insuance that will cover you in the event of a personal injury.
One cyclist was holding up a 50 car stream of traffic going through Windsor Great Park this morning. Most evenings it's the same. I hate them I have to say but that's only beacuse they're incoveniencing me. And there are cyclist nutters just like there are bike or car nutters that cause accidents.
But insurance? What about your 12 year old kid riding to school? Do they need insurance too?

Are you one of those people that queue up at Zebra crossings and stand there staring into the distance until the little green man appears telling you its safe to cross? When they cross the road at marked crossings, there is little chance of them damaging another vehicle (of any size).

I don't mind them too much but on a number of occasions I've been heading out green laning and you always meet the rear end of a cyclist going through lanes. This upsets me because they never seem to grasp the fact I pay money to use that road and they don't yet they still feel they are as important and allowed to use the whole road. :/ I mean when there is no one around by all means, they can do what they like with it but when someone who pays to be there is held up by their incompetence I think it is wrong. I've had countless arguments with them, not because I'm mad, more just to wind them up but I do think they should pay something if they want to use the road for cycling, everyone else does?

Yes, you're right. All of them. Complete idiots ot the last and none of them can ride and someone should be thinking of the children they could harm. I suspect you'll find there are more car/cycle interfaces that are the car drivers fault than the cyclists. As a regular road cyclistr you develop a sixth sense about car rivers simply not giving you enough room or seeing you, despite the abundance of his-viz clothing.there needs to be a mechanism to recover costs of the vehicles damaged at the liability of the cyclist.
EDIT:- Just checked it out, max of 25% of accidents are car drivers fault.

Red lights? Sorry mate, don't apply. Footpaths, all mine for the taking. Oh, and 10 MPH? I don't think so, my lycra lets me do an easy 20... God it's snug and sexy
