Cycling Helmets.
Discussion
Hello folks.
Me & Mrs BG are new to this cycling thing, we just picked up a matching pair of Raleigh Pioneer 2's this afternoon (had them on the roof of my snot Green Fabia vRS, I felt like a photo in a Skoda accessories brochure).
Anyhow, helmets, er WTF! How come I only have the choice of two?
One of these, in any colour scheme imaginable...

Or, half a bowling ball....

Isn't there anything that's just, well, normal?

Bizarre. So you don't want a helmet with lots of vents, but you don't want a helmet without lots of vents either?
The size/shape of a human head and the need for a lightweight but impact-resisting construction pretty much dictates what they'll look like. People tend to ride in the warm so usually want vents. What else do you want them to look like?
You could try Bern, or one of the strange hat-like things that CycleChic sell, or just go without. It's not like they're compulsory, and the kind of riding you'll be doing on bikes like that is hardly at the dangerous end of the spectrum anyway.

I have a couple of these:

Proper helmets with adjustable fitting that don't look as if you're racing.
Put on a white or blue shirt, big ray-bans, and you'll look like a cop on a bike!
