obviously theres good trails and a bit of north shore about but is there anywhere with a decent downhill run with them combined like this in the UK?

probably not as some busy body will pull it down, some dog walking knob (i have a dog) will put branches across not realising little kids will use it, or some chavvy Bogan scum w

sorry does it show that i am a little upset that the local kids efforts at something like this were deliberately trashed after they spent their own time and money setting it up in the woods near me away from the normal walking / dog exercise areas.

Bloody hell, that's impressive!
In the defence of the busybody brigade though, I'd have to say that all the bits of attempted Northshore I've seen from time to time in the Surrey Hills look lethally poorly constructed, unlike that stuff, and I'd be inclined to think the skill levels of the people building it aren't much outstripped by their skills riding it!

There are people who knock up their own lines but if you build something like that it will be taken down. The Canadians have vast areas of "un- owned" wilderness where you can go and build something like this and never be seen.
Over here all land is owned and population densities mean that anything you build even down to a small berm will be noticed.
Could you imagine building something that cool in the uk? First the NIMBYs would get involved. Then planning permission, then health and safety, then proper access for emergency services. Then the dog walkers.... The list is endless. Privately owned land would not want it on their property because they are liable and councils do not want it because they would have to undergo the correct procedural consultations.

i assume they are private woods or built with the landowners permsision, there isnt a lot you can do with natural terrain unless you get lucky and its already a fairly undulating area. stuff like that takes alot of time to develop and build. as others have sid though, nailing planks together to make a homebuilt "north shore" trail can be horrendous. cwmcarn et al have their moments but you would be surprised what you can find if you open up an OS map and look for the contour lines and then approrpriate rights of way.
when the forest sale proposal was announced, people did wonder if "pay and play" mountain bike parks would be developed similar to the terrain in the video, would have been interesting....

UK Bike Park at Blandford has stuff sort of like that.
Llandegla has got a new 'North Shore' and Jumps section called B-Line that's like a sanitised version of that sort of thing (ironically, the original B-Line in Whistler doesn't feature any 'north shore' at all).
Other than that there will be stuff like that dotted all over the UK, but it'll ether be illegally built in a out-of-the-way location on someone’s private land who will do anything to keep it under wraps in case someone rides it, hurts themselves and they've got Claims Direct knocking on their door.

The ratty self-built stuff is usually slimy deadwood which is worse.

That was my first thought after watching this - buy up some forestry and develop some cool trails in there, charge people to ride and have a photographer at key points in the trail to take pictures of them, which they can buy in the special log cabin style 'gift centre' at the end. Feel free to stop by the mechanics hut and have a look at some of the gnarly rides there too. 
I can't even begin to commpute the liability insurance costs though! It's just not going to happen.
On a separate note, their bike skills are incredible. Maybe I need to get involved in all this 'mountain bike' stuff?!
