Just been for a blast in the M and they seem to be everywhere! Half the country all of a sudden fallen in love with wearing leotards and riding a push bike on our decent driving roads?

Indeed. Hence why they have a right to use them.

What I do object to however, is some of the more dedicated cyclists' propensity to occupy the whole road, riding two or three abreast. On narrow country lanes, they are putting themselves in more danger by creating a near stationary road block than by riding single file.

They'll be heavily insulated bib tights either 3/4 or full length. Cant see the similarity with a leotard to be honest.

Oh, you wanted a funny reply?! Sorry.

as a cyclist myself (of the MTB variety) I own a couple of pairs of thermal winter tights!..but always cover with a pair of shorts or trousers!..there are a lot of very homoerotic cyclists on the road..and a lot of middle aged men, mid life crisis in full swing in head to toe ultra tight (professional) lycra for a sunday morning (very slow) ride..

..in a similar vain I had a mate who was only a club swimmer, but who used to insist on shaving his bodily hair to get that 'Olympic last hundredth of a second'..very suspicious!..

this problem was identified in the 70s ever rising amounts of estrogen in water and food is having a drastic affect on men, Im afraid as time goes on the rise of more and more men will become metrosexual, start using products, take up feminine activities and there will be ever increasing amounts of men dating men.

not much we can do about it

I'm middle aged and cycle, but I don't wear the "kit" or those silly p**is hats. (Made it through my youth without one and I'm a lot more sensible now)

I cycle most days but the chorus line of weekend roadies is annoying, i think generally these are car drivers the rest of the time who emerge to clog the roads up several abreast, chatting, swigging their water and generally ignoring anyone else. There is some weight to the argument that its safer two abreast and in certain circumstances that is true but mile after mile with motorists cimmering behind them is annoying and does cyclists no favours. Occasionally on blind bends I make myself wide to dissuade some of the kamikaze overtakes, make the decision for some of the cretins that go through cringing and waiting for the oncoming car, they cant help themselves but most of the time i keep as much out of the way as a I can, if I am causing a hold up I will stop and get out of the way as I hate being delayed for no reaosn in the car as well.

As for lycra, its comfy and ladies, no matter how revulsed at my manly curves cannot avert their eyes, its like a road accident, most people dont want to see but cant help having a look.

I find that a bit strange, you should be able to spot that they are a quite a lot like each other pretty easily (or maybe I should say I find it easy! LOL!!)

Seriously though, take a look at these:

This is a leotard, I found it on ebay listed under Lycra Running Suit Mans Gay Interest Bodysuit Gym Leotard:

And these are the bib tights you mentioned, from a cycling website (not for homos):

Sigh. you wouldn't have witnessed that today in this weather. They are always worn with clothing on the top half unless they are those weird triathlete types wink

Sigh. Some roads that are fun to drive, are also fun to cycle on. And trust me, when the temperatures are like they were this morning, bib tights are something you REALLY want to wear.

OP - you're an idiot. What would you suggest they wear? A scuba suit? Do 50+ miles on the saddle and see how you get on wearing a pair of jeans, or anything else for that matter. Cycling shorts look a certain way (like other athletic gear) for a reason. Comfort.

Just for the record I'm about to cycle fourteen miles home from work in jeans, a high-viz jacket, high-viz rucksac and reflective high-viz helmet. wink

they look a right mess off the bikes with their love handles and curves in the wrong places. What are they thinking! It's like they can buy dedication with a bit of lycra, but lack the physical commitment as they display their "real" lifestyle round their waist.

In the army it's called:

All the gear, no idea.

If a grown man wishes to wear a leotard when riding his pushbike, then he's perfectly entitled to, irrespective of his ability or experience. Those that mock him are the ones with issues.
