Defy 2 or Boardman Road Team bike

Managed to find half hour in my day yesterday to visit the GIANT store in Shoreham, very helpful staff with a vast knowledge of their product. I really liked the look of the Defy 2 which is £799, size of frame not sorted yet as needed to step back and view my other options. Like another member on here, I also like the Boardman road team bike which is currently £899 but Halfords have an online offer on which is spend over £400 and get £60 off. Basically what I am after is a few opinions of both bikes so I can gauge my final decision.
the higher spec of the boardman would swing me that way, 105 and mavic aksiums vs tiagra and some own brand Giant wheels. Aksiums are a "proper" wheelset and much higher quality compared to the Giants. the boardman is also 1.5 lbs lighter.

Went an saw the Team Boardman this afternoon, nice looking machine in the flesh and looks very well thought out. Lots of good quality parts as well for the money. I have been recommended the 53cm (medium) for my height (5' 9"). Am really tempted to nip up to Gatwick Evans store tomorrow afternoon to check out the competition before making a commitment...

We did manage to visit Evans on Saturday and I rode a Specialized Allez Sport and a Trek 1.5 C. I am now thinking of upping the budget to £1k and have added the Trek 2.1 C and Scott Speedster S30 Compact top the final list. Maybe my final list of choices is getting too long now but Idont want to regret my purchase and then have to creep to the Mrs in 12 months time wanting something else.
Any riders of the 2 new choices on here?

I have a 2011 Allez Sport and am very happy with it - didn't cost anywhere near £1k though. I chose it for a couple of reasons - one being my lad already had an Allez that I enjoyed 'borrowing', another being an excellent LBS that is primarily a Spesh dealer. Any riders of the 2 new choices on here?

You can take that in to your local branch and challenge the manager to match it or you could give John a call at Farnborough (01252372903) tell him you know the guy who bought a bike for his missus last week and one for himself yesterday and you want the same deal.
(In fact they have a 53 with a few scratches on which may be even cheaper)

Done it now, after much advice from here, deliberation and riding of the 3 different roadies I went for the Scott. I found the Specialized and Trek had me leaning over too far and this would have played havoc with my lower back. The Scott has a more upright riding postion which suits me better. The guys at Evans in Gatwick were very helpful and patient, must have been driving them mad getting on and off the bikes till I made my decision, so thanks to them if any of them are on here.
