Opinions for new bike - MTB Hard tail.

Looking at the above model, have had a brief go in the shop i intend to buy from a local shop with over 30 years in the buiness, and have been a semi regular customer with my old bike.

Just curious if anyone's had one of these long term, and if any problems occured, or generally if it's a decent bike.

I bought an XTC 2 yesterday, excellent bike, excellent build quality and a lifetime guarantee!

the warranty only applies to defects, not if they consider it to be abuse or general wear and tear. i have heard a few jokes about Giant's warranty and its validity. I appreciate the fact that even offering it is substantially more than a lot of other manufacturers but its not a free ticket to a replacement if you spot a crack...

Cracks on welds will be covered by a lfetime warranty as its considered poor welding. Cracks elsewhere are always a sign of a crash or fatigue or corrsion none of which would be covered under a warranty.

A frend who had a Giant (Glory or Reign, cant remember which) was refused a replacement frame despite the crack being on a weld and him being the original owner. I'm sure lots of people have had good experience of Giant's much advertised lifetime warranty but i would exercise caution if you choose a new bike and base the decision on the assumption that any defect considered to be a result of poor welding will result in a replacement frame.

There seems to be a fine line in their application of the warranty between what is expected wear and tear on a 6" dh bike and a short travel xc bike....
