I've got it in my head I want to build a fixie. I don't necessarily want a track frame but do want steel, a big disc brake up front and a proper fixed wheel at the back. I'm thinking I need a nice 531 frame with 700C wheels and tubs but cant see how to get disc compatible forks. Any ideas?
Buy a cheap frame from someone like Graham Weigh or Paul Milnes and then buy a carbon cx fork which has disc mounts, simples, as the meerkat would say...
not sure a big disc is going to be ideal with a fixed rear wheel though, most fixies with a front brake have cantis for feathering the speed or aiding balance at junctions rather than bringing the bike to a halt whilst at speed.
if you want flat bars and a beefier frame, On One do the Inbred as a single speed which could be made into a fixie very easily.

I can build my own wheels so not a problem with that comination of hubs, brakes and rims. The back will be a disc brake front hub with a bolt-on sprocket where the disc would normally fit. With suitable spacers to allow it to be used in the back.
I didn't really want carbon so may end up brazing a disc mount on steel forks.
