You know the ones when you look back and think "ahh yes - it started then...."

Renewed my BC membership/race licence.

Bought a fully fledged road race bike.

Entered my first road race for 25 years (I am now 47!!!!).

Had a letter saying that the woman that drove into me whilst training during the first week of last December had been convicted of driving without due care.

Just as the pain from one door reaches conclusion I open up an even greater world of pain - can't wait to get onto them hills in the bunch and give it large though at my age I think I my be attempting the impossible.

Never mind January 1st: when the sun comes out, it's time to get going.

Age is only a number - i train with the "vets" at Newport, probably the youngest one there - they are all fast as fk and I am slow as st!

Keep on pushing!

I went back to doing evening '10's when I was 41, brilliant fun. Don't do anything like that now, but I did give myself another bike for my 65th, and do wonder if I retired; then maybe I'd have time to train to get back to doing ten mile TTs again.

Have entered Welwyn Wheelers RR on April 22nd, its part of the Eastern region road race league which the club is a member of. I am very lucky there appears to be a race within the league nearly every weekend through may/june.

Might warm up with a a go at Hog Hill beforehand and Welwyn track league (which I will ride) starts at the end of April as well. So have lots of opportunity to get some serious rides in.

Have ordered a Dolan Ares in An Post team colours full Red grouppo (with BB30), Infinito carbon 38mm section tubular wheels with 3T finishing kit. Can't wait it should be some bike and I think a bit of a bargain including the wheels and Continental Competition tubs, £2620 - a full team bike for not too much wonga.

No its ERRL (eastern road race league) - SERL is the league "next door" below us geographically.

I'm sure I will see you at Hog Hill sometime in the summer - but I'm st at circuit races, 67kg's so the open road and the hillyer the better for me (though I did have some wins at the old Eastway circuit many years ago).

The Dolan is a good frame, you'll enjoy the feeling of racing (as long as you've put the training in of course)

Good luck

To the training - oh yes

The only reason I am coming back is because for the first time in 25 years I have my life organised enough so that I can ride properly during the day.
