London Fixed Gear and Single Speed speed forum ?????

Am I the only one on there who gets slagged off on that forum??

I cant post an advert without someone insulting me for something. I posted an advert today and hadnt got around to putting up a pic as I was waiting til I got home and then I got some **** slagging me off 2 minutes later approximately because I was asking this money without bothering to post a pic. (give me a chance, no rest for the wicked).

Then someone else slagging me off because he said there were cheaper saddles on another site and I need to lower my asking price (which wasnt true as I already knew for a fact this other site was sold out of that saddle) and since that low price was very rare anyway then it would have been like winning the lottery to get one without paying 220- 280 which the usual RRP price was, closer to the higher end actually.

If they dont like you they review your profile somehow and your can have a negative listing, which I know have. The first time I used the site about 3 months ago a similar thing happened, guess I thought it was just an unlucky incident, guess not, my mistake :-). .

There seem to be one or 2 nice people but they are in the minority.

Would be nice to have some other feedback, OTHER THAN THE LFGSS MILITIA (with their biased opinions).

They have a bad reputation as far as friendliness goes, but I've found it to be no worse than any other forum and in fact filled with a bunch of really decent folk. Yeah, there's a lot of banter and piss taking, but I've never actually seen anything malicious that wasn't warranted. Just like mates arsing about in the pub.

But, because it was a close knit community, the classifieds were more of a swapshop between mates or a place to buy and sell cheaply because you may be helping someone out, rather than a place to make profit or flip parts. As the site grew and gained membership, it's used more as a regular selling post now, but there are a lot of people that try and uphold the spirit of the way it used to be. So if you turn up without having previously gotten involved in the community, start posting ads for things, perhaps poorly listed (ie no pics) and it appears you're just there to use the classifieds, and particularly if you're pricing your wares at the higher end of what may be considered reasonable, then you can expect to get some stick for it.

About 5 years ago it was full of cycle messengers discussing where you could get a coffee for 20p at 5am in central london, then fixies became fashionable and everyone wanted to be a messenger and as the site grew, it all got a bit nasty.

its quite amusing though, they seem to hate the hipsters riding 1k vintage bianchi track frames bought from Brick Lane just as much as the people riding the crap 200 ebay fixies.

Not sold on there but have bought and sold parts on Bikeradar classified. Been a very pleasant experience over the last few years. Bought some parts at good prices, sold surplus kit and buyers happy.

i go on there to skim the fancy bikes, amuse myself over the heated debates (usally over nothing....) but like all forums (just look at how PH has grown and turned out and for those with a lotus... SELOC) it is tinkering on the edge of loosing its core.

Yep, its all bizarre in the world of forums, STW is another pearler and it doesnt half get odd on here mmost of the time.

Most of the threads seem relatively benign to me but the classifieds appear somewhat religiously policed, by the more aggressive posters.
Woe betide anyone who genuinely overprices or bumps without a price drop!

You pays your money (nothing) you make your choice.
Stick it on eBay/Gumtree if LFGSS is no good.

Selling that on that forum is probably a lost case now....
