Well after dusting off my old MTB this morning and giving it a quick once over, i headed out along the canal (stourport to kinver, if anyone is local).

I must say, christ i am unfit. And i still bloody loved it.

Shame its such a big brute of a bike. Its an old Saracen raw II. Yeah, that bad...

I started again a couple of years ago after about a decade off.

Hated it at first, was so much hard work and did not like the fact I couldn't ride as far as I used to.

I bit the bullet and bought a new Genesis Core 40 through my cycle scheme at work and what a difference. Yes, I am still unfit and overweight but the bike makes a huge difference. Lugging a heavy old bike about makes it no fun what so ever.

Just dont make the mistake of buying a new bike, using a few times then sticking it in the shed for the next few years.

Good on you for getting back on it, it's great biggrin

"If at first you don't succeed. You're running about average!

Just go out and ride within your limits. If you go too hard, the resulting aches and pains will put you off.

It can take up to two years to get fit and proficient enough to survive the average club run.

Just enjoy what you are doing, it will all come together in the end.
