So a mate in my race at the weekend broke his frame, bizzare accident so unlucky and could have been so much worse.

Anyway, the break is midway on the top tube, he actually raced on it not seeing the damage! Has anyone used a repair service in the south of the UK and if so can you a. recommend them and b. give me any idea of costs so I can pass them on.

Thanks.

looked at www.carboncyclesrepairs.co.uk whilst searching for touch up paint (see thread below)

some of their "before and after" are pretty impressive. they clearly know what they are doing.

Carbon Fibre HQ in Norwhich.

£100 all in, they have done 2 or 3 club riders frames. One Cervelo r3, it's as good as new. Doesn't look pretty but you could paint it.

Good stuff.

We wondered where he was on the start line and he rocked up late. On the warmup one of his cleats unclipped up the hill and he went over the handlebars with the bars crossed up. It ripped the rear tyre off the rim and twisted the top tube snapping it. How his ankle remained in one piece is beyond me. Looking at the cleats I am guessing there was a small stone trapped in them which allowed them to partially hold until max pressure was applied. If that had have happened during the race mid pack....fawk.
