New bike?????

Ive been looking for a while and just cant seem to find anything. I was really keen on a 29er but rode it on our local twisty singletrack and didnt like the feeling of trying to turn it, it was hard work and not enjoyable.
I have a 16" OnOne Inbred single speed and a med Spesh Enduro. Im looking for a hardtail with gears to fill the gap. It must be comfy or able to be set up for long day rides, SRAM, not a full on racing hardtail and no more than £1500. I have seen OnOne have the 456 and thats looking fave at the moment just wondering if anyone has any other ideas?

I'm looking at that 456 too. Seems excellent value. A riding friend has the Ti version and is really pleased with it. I don't think deliveries start until the end of May though, according to their website.

I'll hold my hand up, i am a complete fanboy after my recent BFe purchase but the Cotic Soul is worth a look... you'll have to build it yourself and £1500 might be tricky but be sensible with the spec rather than take what On One give you and its possible.

Eg you dont need X9 throughout and you can save little bits of money from the drivetrain on things like front mech to spend on wheels and forks. On One seem obsessed with shifters and mechs so their "Bargain Sram Red" road bikes are often red shifters and mechs then the rest is Apex or Rival stuff when they could spec it with Force throughout for about the same cost.

its worth checking the cost of replacement parts too, i find SRAM stuff is quite a bit more than the equivilent Shimano...

try rose bikes or bikediscount.de for bargain groupsets and components, its not quite wiggle-ease of ordering as its euros and paypal but its not a drama and the stuff arrives just as quick.

I built a Ragley Blue Pig last year and am VERY happy with it. I built it as a 1 x 9 (XT) to a decent spec using new parts, however I have to admit I did save on the forks by buying a 2nd hand set of Pikes from a mate who had just had them service by TF, otherwise everything else was new - total build cost was a shade over £1,400.

Key to keeping the cost down was to spend quite a bit of time surfing the web looking for the best price for the kit on my shopping list.

Since completing the build I changed the 36t chainring that came with the Holzfella cranks for a 32t middle burn ring which cost another £30 odd.

Perfect guys just what I was after. Im trying to convince the missus I need anothrr bike so if I buy to build over a few months it would make her happier and itll all be "It was an Ebay bargain darling" . I deffo want Sram as other bikes are Sram, I know how much spares are but not a problem. It doesnt have to be the best and the lightest so may look at X7.
