Utterly filthy bikes

There seem to be a lot of clean fastidious riders on here, so I thought I'd post an antithesis

The only bits that ever get cleaning/maintenance on my bike are chain/gears /shifters, and the brake calipers.
Other than that, it's left in the coating it acquires after each outing!



So come on people, lets see your bikes in their filthy glory!

My bikes are kept so clean that I make SWMBO clean the kitchen before I bring them into the house.

I am, naturally, a "Roadie".

Not quite as dirty as the ones above! Took the bikes out a while ago and they came back looking like pugsleys there was so much sticky mud on the tyres.

Christ there's some mud on this lot!
One thing I really really hate is getting it all ground into the chain as it takes me ages to clean it all off again - how do you guys manage?

Actually I was going to ask similar. My back brake is being "temperamental" after the last time I went and got muddy...

poor a watering can of water over the bike when I get in, then 3in1 oil on the chain before I go out next.

Current regime in this rubbish weather is to hose the bike down as soon as I get home. Then I go inside to have a shower and put some warm clothes on. Once I'm sorted I head back outside, hose it down again, spray it with cleaner, scrub with a bike brush and give it one more hosing. Depending on how I'm feeling I'll take the chain off and let it soak in a tub of degreaser before putting it back on and re-lubing, and I'll also give the bike a final coat of finising spray and rub down with a cloth.

This may sound like a massive faff, but it's worth it as the bike runs so much better after a good clean.

I do similar, although I get the cleaning finished before I go for a well earned shower! When it's as muddy as the pics I posted above, I also hose down my clothes and shoes!

I have a big metal tank that I fill with water and plonk the bike in. Then I drag the wacker plate onto the lid and fire it up.
In for a shower and a hot drink and then out to lift a shiney bright bike out of the tank.
Job done






I made it all up but its sooo what I would do

Must admit, I really don't enjoy riding in wet/muddy conditions. Gets me the bike and the car filthy the cons outweigh the pros for me personally.
