I've decided it's about time I bought myself a new bike, the 12 year old Trek is now about finished. I'm just wondering what peoples experiences are with Cube?
I'm looking for a hardtail around the £1-£1.5K,so the ltd pro to the reaction sort of level. Any thoughts on these? or any other suggestions.

what do you want? carbon, ally, steel? a lightweight xc whippet with 100mm of travel or a burly hardtail with 140mm capable of attacking UK trail centres? £1500 is a lot of money and will get you a rolls royce of hardtails regardless of what your requirements are.
IMHO Cube do the xc whippet stuff very well but less so the latter, few continental manufacturers seem to "get" the demands of UK riders. have a think about what you want and then come back, i'd be looking at Whyte personally

t with my Cube Stereo and my kid loves his Flying Circus jump bike. Worth considering would also be Canyon, and Boardman seems to also offer a lot for the money.I got a 2010 Cube Ltd last Jan (paid abut £850 as it was 'last years model')and have been chuffed to bits with it. Been out at least once a week I reckon (more last summer) and have done a fair few trail centres on it and it's performed brilliantly.
All I changed on it was the std pedals as they're the usual rubbish you get with most bikes, other than I've had to replace the rear tyre and a couple of sets of brake pads. Not bad in >1000 miles riding in the gritty peak district I don't reckon?
I'd say that for 90% of riding you won't go wrong, I manage most black sections at trail centres, and I reckon the ones that I don't are more down to the goon riding than the bike.....!
Plus they looks the dogs b@llocks...!

You might be misleading the OP there with that statement. An XC whippet with 100mm will be perfectly adequate for 90% of trail centre routes, including many blacks if you avoid the jumps and take the chicken runs. I'm after a hardtail and havng upped my budget am now looking at the 2012 Ltd Race. Looks a good package.
All this red and blacks? I'm basically looking for a bike that will cope with most stuff. I'm not going to be hitting trail centres yet but would like a bike that can handle them when I can!!

Hi Ben, I've seen your thread. I've started looking at the Cube Acid now. It's probably not even as good a spec as my old bike, but I'm a notorious ditherer and have spent too much time researching so I'm stuck.
Yesterday was a waste of time for me. Blanked by 2 bike shops the 3rd was ok but couldn't get a bike until July so advised waiting until next years bikes come out in Sept.

Hi - I had the same dilema a few months ago and went for the CUBE mainly because of the full carbon frame and excellent finishing kit.I'm looking for a hardtail around the £1-£1.5K,so the ltd pro to the reaction sort of level. Any thoughts on these? or any other suggestions.
I already have a full suspension so was looking for a lightweight hard tail and this fitted the bill pretty well.
The only changes I have made have been to put a riser bar on it and some tubeless tyres.
This is the reaction GTC pro and retails for around £1,500 but I got it for closer to £1,350 after haggling over some discount.
I had a 2011 Cube Acid for about 6 weeks... the frame managed to bend in that 6 weeks. In fairness to cube the frame was replaced under warranty within 5 working days, and it was probably my riding that bent it in the first place. I only bought the bike while my custom five was being made so sold it shortly after the frame was replaced.
As I love cubes and was impressed with their customer service, last month I bought a Cube Reaction GTC SL for my attempt at the Cape Epic.
Cube offer an awesome spec for the money.

I've got an 09 Attention, so cheaper end of the HT but I love it!
Granted I'm not the most active MTB'er due to becoming a dad last year, "read probably less than 50 miles in 2012" but its performed well, nothings broke and it looks great. I used it a lot more last year and apart from brake pads it's needed nothing, I even left the original tires and pedals on which going off this thread seems a no no.
It got hammered over the weekend as well with the first proper ride of this year and at times I thought it wasn't going to take some of the stick I threw at it but it did!

I too have a Cube Ltd Race. Its a 2010 model I think - oh so pretty in white and acid/lime green.
It has coped well with everything I have thrown at it - my home trail is Llandegla - whether that be a blue, red or black run. My only criticism is that I need to change the stem to get really comfy, as its a bit too long for my liking. The seat is also mega hard.
If I was spending upto £1500 now, I would personally go for one of the full suspension Cube offerings rather than their top of the range hardtail. If you are out on a very bumpy trail, such as Llandegla, you do find the limitations of a hardtail quite quickly. That said, it does come down to how crazy you are, too!
Nothing but praise for Cube though. Brilliant bikes.
