Workstands

Since I'm getting mightily annoyed with having to lift the bike up when I'm doing gear-related tweaks, I'm intending to get a repair stand.

Is something like this even worth a look, given it'll only be seeing fairly light use - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HOME-MECHANIC-BENCH-MOUN... - or shall I save the pennies for a proper floor-standing one?

Do they ever pop up in Aldi or Lidl for a bargain price?

You'd have to fix that to something a) high and b) substantial. It'll be fixed in position, so you won't be able to move it around, or more typically...out of the way.

Go for a folding, floor standing work stand: much, much more user-friendly, practical etc.

Get the Lidl folding stand when they are available - great value (approx £30 ) and well built

Works great for home use

It cost me £45 and just after I got it the price went up to £70. The on-line price is £69.99 at the moment but I'm sure in store they are £65. Time it with an in-store £10 off offer and you can probably get it for £55.

Really solid and good vfm (even at £70). Collapses very easily so good for carrying around in the car.

I use the Bike Tools workstand from Merlin Cycles, works fine for what I need

£53.95 at the moment from Merlin with their 10% deal or £55.99 from Ribble

Yeah I've got one of these badboys too. Really good, sometimes leave my bikes in it for days and it's fine. Wash bikes in it and it's fine. I keep meaning to fashion a little tray for tools/nuts/bolts etc but haven't got round to it yet. Also they've got the bike clamp upside down in that review page.

Lidl stands are good for the money, I paid £28 (I think) and have had plenty of use out of it. It is sturdy, won't fall over and has numerous adjustments. I am sure it is not a scratch on a Park Tools stand but I don't make a living from it - so for me it works well!

I've got a park stand and it is indeed a quality bit of kit.
Fortunately i didn't have to pay for it, to be honest for my odd fiddling its a bit OTT.
It does handle a Full sus bike with ease and then folds up into a bag.
