Anyone else been out tonight?

This (incredibly poor) picture was taken at the top of Ditchling Beacon, as I was trying to avoid being blown over. I want summer to arrive frown

The weather put paid to our riding a couple of weekends ago.

After 45 miles of muddy towpath (and six punctures between three of us) we knocked it on the head.

Summer can't get here quickly enoughranting

Left work an hour late just so I didn't get wet on the ride home.

I long for the long summer evenings....

Every ride to and from work in the last month has been horrific. If it's not actually raining, it's wet and windy.

I hate this country.

Bah and Humbug to the lot of you! Except Magpie. Losing your bike is pretty st, but that doesn't sound weather-related?

I left work early today to get home in time to go and collect my new car stereo from the post office (only to find the lazy fkers knock off at 5, not 5:30, but that's another story), which meant 15.3 miles home in torrential rain.

OK, so I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to get my boots dry by the morning - Goretex holds water entered through your socks via osmosis in just as well as it keeps it out over the rest of the boot - but on the flip side, it was pretty warm, so I was fine in shorts, a T shirt and a jacket.

Yes, I got drenched, but then at least I was coming home to a hot shower and dry clothes. Far better than all the silly sods who'd obviously ducked out of the office for a few minutes to go to the shops unprepared, and were desperately trying (and miserably failing) not to get drenched on the way back!

Furthermore, brakes which are, at best, terrifying in the rain add a whole new dimension of thought and sphincter clenching to navigating CS7. On the other hand, I thoroughly enjoyed the nice young lady apologising profusely for stepping out in front of me in Tooting without looking with her earphones in. If only more young ladies would apologise when my face finds itself slowly, majestically yet, as a result of the aforementioned brakes unavoidably planted into the side of their remarkably pleasing right breast, then the world would be a better place! Come the summer, it'll all be restraining order this and indecent assault that, but with the rain on your side, it's "oh, I'm terribly sorry!" cloud9

This afternoon, the weather was staggeringly st.

This afternoon, it was still a good day to be a cyclist in London! hehe

Now, if someone could just arrange no rain on Sundays so I can get out on my lovely new road bike on club runs now the rugby season has finished, that'll be me delighted!

I wish I could commute to work on the bike! Unfortunately it'd be an 80 mile round trip hehe

Aiming to do it on a few Friday's when the weather plays ball, but I'd end up dead doing it 5 days a week.

There was a bright orange thing in the sky for the first 5 miles of my commute this morning....then it went. What was it?

I didn't trust it myself, so went on the hybrid (with mudguards) just in case.

It was a wise choice, I feel.

I feel so amongst friends biggrin

The thing that's annoying me most is this week it's been crap and horrible rides to/from work. Today I have to drive (going to the O2 straight from work for comedy night), anyway...today; glorious sun this morning.

I blame the government.

Theres something strangely satisfying finishing a ride in really bad weather. A bit of "gurning and dribbling" for the last few miles. Dont want it all the way just the end.

I don't mind the rain, its the puddles on my daily commute that get me. If its just started raining in the morning I go on the bike, if its been hose-banning it down all night I take the car wink

This morning was a nice ride though, lovely sunrise, cool [head frown] winds and hardly any traffic. On the flip side, Tuesday was a stter, drenched through and seeing as it is now classed as 'Summer' in my building the radiators weren't on to dry the clothes out.....

I rode a Trailquest on Sunday. I really wasnt looking fwd to it as the commute to work has been awful! The area was to the south of Basingstoke and I couldnt beleive it it was 95% dry. We hit some boggy areas but the majority was if it hadnt rained for weeks.

I often wonder if I look decidely odd to the cars who overtake, pedalling my little heart out, panting like a swamp donkey running upstairs for a buffet, but getting nowhere due to the bloody fking wind here in Southampton. It whips up the Solent and seems to be in my face for both parts of my commute.
