Odd lbs experience.

This isn't something I do.... That is judge someone for thier choice of bike for no other reason than the shoe is usually on the other foot and I expect people have looked at me with my Orange and seen me skitter down a but if singke track and wondered what I was doing with such a mtb, my road bike is also ok ( spech tamac) and I get good long lasting kit (SIDI shoes) aposed to crap that needs replacing every 5 mins.

However today I was in the lbs and a women was getting a cevelo S5, and very nice it was too! But what happened next surprised me, she then asked for a saddle bag picking a heavy bag very much at odds with the race bike she was about to buy and went oh it looks great....

The chap at lbs asked what was she going to use it for (like racing) and she said yes I want to get out more looking a bit blank not talking about sportives etc. She didn't really come across as someone who knew the type of bike she was getting then her husband had the if it's expensive I'll say wow and buy it approach.

Is this the eqivilant to your mum getting a fast Audi because it came with nice speakers....... and came in the colour she wanted. With no passion for the other bits which to me would be more important such as the engine?

As you said it's best not to judge people - last night I was out with the local super fast chaingang and one of the guys was about 50 and on a hardtail MTB with slicks. He looked like he wouldn't last 5 minutes but he kept up without any problem.

I want to, and hopefully/possibly/maybe will have a Cipollini RB1000 next year at some point, far far beyond what I can do justice to but have you seen it?

I like to think I know and appreciate a good bike so perhaps that is justification enough, just don't ask me for a custard test..
