Stolen: Pashley Gu'vnor

If I had a Guv'nor or a different collectable bike like that I would NEVER leave it at a station or locked anywhere for a lengthy period of time. Its like leaving a piece of cheese out for a mouse.
Sorry I know its not very sympathetic but I do feel your pain.
I have a couple of bikes that would be tea leaf magnets and unless I am at work (I have 3 dogs home as security) they never leave my sight when I am riding them or stopping off somewhere.

Does the station have CCTV covering the bike racks?
It does seem an odd bike to get nicked though? I understand that the average bike thief would take even a cheap mountain bike over most other things, as these are the easiest to shift.

There is CCTV but it doesn't look like it covered my bike, BTP will apparently check though.
However speaking to a fella at the station this happens on a daily basis and even when it gets caught on CCTV all you really know is when it went rather than who took it. Even the secure area isn't immun as the thiefs jut pay £25 for a card and have free reign.
When I replace it I'll be permenantly using one of my old motorbike locks at the station and using that.

All 3 of mine are rare/unusual and sometimes I wonder what the point is if I am not willing to leave them anywhere, they all sit in the conservatory most of the time, much to the annoyance of my partner who wants to put a nice dinner table in there for summer.
They are unusual, did you make a note of the frame number, I assume the Pashleys have one too? I have now labelled/registered all my bike with Retainaguard. It means they all have an extra sticker on but they have markings that also come up under UV light and all you pay is a one-off fee.
If you want to get another Guv'nor then there is a guy selling a Guv'nor 4 on ebay. Its not one of the original 50 but a special order one. If you can afford it then get that one and buy a few extra locks :-).

Seen the one on ebay (keeping an eye out for any Guv'nors that might come up), don't think I'll be getting another Guv'nor though, been there, done that now. It was a loveely bike but I think I'd get more use out of something more contemporary. Got my eye on a 2011 Kona Dr Fine on CRC.
I'm fed up of rampant bike theft. I had both my MTB and road bike stolen from the reasonably-secure bike store at my block of flats last March, I only replaced the road bike as I couldn't bear for the MTB to be taken again.
I finally lost my paranoia to the point that it went back into the store (rather than the flat) a couple of months ago, but I removed my lights, etc overnight.
Lo and behold, the first point I think "Oh sod it, nobody's going to bother to nick lights" and inadvertently leave them on overnight, they get nicked. Sounds like another bike was stolen the same night.
Net effect? I'm still afraid to leave my bike in the store and it lives in my flat. This country cooks my goose sometimes.

hope it works out. I almost bought a Guv'nor but decided against it for practicality. I live in a village and a bloke cycles past the pub a lot on his 3 spd Guv'nor and he always looks red in the face, I think its mainly the way the frame, bars etc are set up, not very comfy positioning unless you are on a slow/flat cruise. I then bought a rare 1 spd Beach Cruiser so even less practical. I now have a Schwinn 9 spd road bike, so now I have 2 cruisers and a practical road bike (sort of practical, it is made of flax and has bamboo fenders and grips :-)).

It has nothing to do with this country! If a country has bikes, then it has bike thieves. Some people are despicable, selfish
s in this country, just as they are in any other country. It's a fact of life, and this country is no better or worse than any other. Why people feel the need to bash it just because they've had something happen to them which could've happened to them in any country on the planet is a thoroughly disappointing mystery to me.Try living in South Africa, they will steal the sweat off your balls if they could :-).
Pretty much all houses there have burglar bars surrounding the windows. At my parents house they used a drill and angle grinder to take off the bars from the windows to steal my clothes and my lovely hi-fi.

The guv'nor really wasn't that bad to ride once set up properly and once underway the momentum was impressive.
It was taken from Farnborough Main, had a call from BTP today, appparently another bike of similar value was also taken yesterday, make of that what you will.
Calledthe local bike shops today to let them know in case anyone tries to move it on, also keeping an eye on Ebay and gum tree.
Ordered the Kona Dr Fine as its relacement, will miss the old Guv'nor though.
