Specialized Hotrock 12" brakes

Hi All

My 3 year old has finally started riding the hotrock we brought him for his 2nd birthday and is having issues with the front brake. I Have tried adjusting the lever towards the handle bar to help with reach but the screw just slips back to its original position! Also if I pull the lever hard the wheel keeps turning anyway! Does anyone know of any uprated componants I can fit to increase performance? I am worried that anything I buy will be too big and won't fit.

Do you need to tighten the brake cable?

cheers for the reply, brakes all adjusted fine ( ie no matter how hard I pull the lever won't hit the bar)

Is the brake block actually moving when you pull the lever? I don't mean to patronise you but if the cable is lose you need to tighten the cable by pulling the cable tighter through a pinch bolt usually where it attaches to the cantilevers not on the brake lever.

I think your kids bike has a coaster rear brake and a calliper front. Some more info here.

Cheers mate, yep indead it does have a ooaster brake at the rear plus front brake. The front cantilever brake is setup correctly, just lacks power and is a common issue on this bike. Looking for an uprated brake that will fit and a new lever that allows liitle one to reach properly.
