Bristol Bike Fest 9/10 June

Anyone heading to bike fest this weekend?
Myself, Neil Bolton and Abarth Chris make up 3 sides of a fine racing 4 in 'Team Poco Local Freeride Team' (long and boring story behind the name) entered in on the 12 hour race on Saturday.
We will be taking things very seriously complete with pits (tent), onsite nutrition (BBQ) and other essential racing items including waterpistols and the like.
Should be fun and fingers crossed for some decent weather this time.
I'm in a team of four in the 12 hour race on Saturday called "Real Men Dont Eat Quiche"... fittingly our nutritional expert has sourced seven different varieties of Haribo and we will have enough pastries to set up an on-site boulangerie. Our obective is simple: avoid being beaten by the over 40s solo single speeders!!

So for those doing the 12hr, how did you get on?
I am so glad the weather held out although the wind after the wall section was pretty harsh.
No mechanicals for any of us so the opportunity for using our tourettes was minimal, but as we were getting tired there were a few choice words. Choice comment for the day in the handover area was my team mate 'shouting give me the hair band you b
h!' The guy with the microphone heard and I got interviewed.
Our fastest man was doing 30min laps which was really incredible, the rest of us were managing 33/34 and 35s. The last time we looked we were 35th out of 96 I think.

did anyone see the solo male winner at the end? we saw him at about 2025 and he stopped for a fresh bottle before setting off for one more lap having just done a 32 minute lap! he was a monster! the clock stopped at 2100 and he had to have completed that lap for it to count!

now eyeing up a 29er and the oktoberfest!!! well all the fast guys wereon 29ers and i was on a 26er, must make one hell of a difference...

Hey Pablo, I heard you came over while I was out on a lap sorry I missed you!!
What a top day, team Poco Local Freeride Team came in a very respectable 20th overall which is not bad considering at 09.00 only one of us was ready to start and we were more interested in keeping the BBQ going, keeping the gazebo up (zip ties and gaffer tape) and snoozing in the sun!
We were logging laps of between 28 to 32 mins all day which kept us going. The proper fast boys at the front were scary quick, I got a 'leading rider on your left call' and the guy came past me like I was standing still
And the boys had to put up with me and my grumpy cold, developing nicely into full strength man flu this afternoon! Boo!

The Wiggle guy came past me on the last lap on the climb after the wall, I tried to stay with him but after the bomb hole there was no chance, he really was impressive
20th is a really good result, unfortunately we seemed to slip to 36th in the end but I am still happy with that as we all gave it everything we had. It's hard to imagine how you can go faster but the leaders just kept flying past.
Well done everyone, Dartmoor Classic for me next, need to get a few road miles in before that.
