SRAM 1x11speed mtb groupset

I'm looking forward to 1x11 filtering down to the more affordable groupsets.

My last 3 builds have all been very light bikes with 1x9 using 11-34 cassettes and I also like Gripshift. 'Clean, simple & light' - it's the way forward, just need to wait for 'cheap' now!

It transpires there are no immediate plans to introduce cheaper 11 speed groupsets apparently so I'll probably stick with 10speed 11-36 for now as the price of SRAM X0 is way more than I'm willing to spend on components.

Not sure about 12 speeds but with different spacing Shimano could easily use their Capreo system to produce a 9-36t cassette which would give a similar range to SRAMs new system:

Have you seen the one peice cassette from Hope? IIRC corectly the are down to a 9 tooth cog, with a slimmer hub they would probably fit a 12, wont hold my breath though.

Thanks for that Fluffsi - hadn't seen it but again it looks like another nice solution.

I like the idea of only having one shifter, a lot of my mate have gone 1x10, personally I lack the lungs to let go of the granny just now.

I see, like the forever "coming soon", Hope cassette thing this relies on a new standard hub, or an intergrated freehub, I'd rather wait for the Hope cassette and stick to a 1x10 with a wider range, the extra cog is of little use to me, it's the range I'm after.

As for SRAM having "no plans" to give an X0, X9, X7 etc etc 11 speed option - that's just marketing BS to grab a lot of early takers. They said exactly the same thing about XX.

The hope cassette relies on you having a Hope hub. - Cant wait to get my cassette!
