IS disc adaptors question

Are IS to post disc adaptors manufacturer specific? I've bought some shimano slx m666 brakes to replace the hayes 9's on my kona and the rear caliper requires an is to post adaptor like the hayes 9, will the hayes one work or do i need a shimano one?
