Trimming Goodridge hoses on hope X2's
Discussion
I've finally bought my rear X2 to go with the front one and I'm very pleased with the set-up on my Stumpjumper....that and it looks very bling!
The only problem is the set-up I bought was ready to fit and the hose needs about 10cm trimmed off.
Is it possible to do this without having to re-bleed the whole system which is a bit of a pain in the arse to do!!
(And how do I cut the braided hose neatly...AND will I need any spare parts to complete the job?)

I very much doubt you'll manage to trim them down and not have to re-bleed.The only problem is the set-up I bought was ready to fit and the hose needs about 10cm trimmed off.

I have no idea on what tools you'll need to trim them down, but something very sharp would be my guess

I've just done the opposite, purchased the rear first and the front is waiting for me at the post office.
I would think it will need to be re-bled once shortened - Mine was all done by the bike shop for free when I purchased it.
Yup, I would normally take it to my local bike shop who are awesome (when I lived in Vienna). The guy trimmed the front one for free even though I bought it from Wiggle.I would think it will need to be re-bled once shortened - Mine was all done by the bike shop for free when I purchased it.
The problem is there are no decent bike shops in Gibraltar....unless I missed something...
It sounds like I'm going to have to re-bleed the whole system. Any recommendations for doing this? Tools, fluid, special tips?!
You'll need a dedicated kit - I got mine from "Epic Bleed Solutions" on ebay (no affiliation). Mine was for Avid but they do kits for all major brands. They'll supply you with syringes, gloves, pipes and connectors, fluid and a guide. Wasn't anywhere near as difficult as I imagined, just messy and time consuming.

Funnily enough I have an Avid bleed kit but it's a totally different set-up with Hope's right? There's no bleed port on the main cylinder...at least as far as I can see.....Hopes are very easy to bleed.
All you need is fluid and a spanner, a tube will also help if they are still on the bike.
Shortening the hoses on mine were a pain, you need new ferrules, I tried and tried to use the old ones and it's not worth it.
Yes there are guides for shortening hoses on Youtube, braided ones are not really covered on it... and there is a top guide for bleeding them.
