New bike advice

I'm looking into getting back into Cycling, used to cycle quite a bit but gradually lost interest! I owned a GT Timberline FS when I was younger and felt very comfortable, I then purchased a Specialized hardrock pro but couldn't get on with the riding position (I'm 6ft 3 and found it very cramped, felt like I was too far forward?).
I'm looking to spend around £450 on a new bike, I was looking at a 2012 Cannondale SL5( Cannondale was a really good make when I was last into cycling, is this still the case?) and a Voodoo hoodoo from Halfords( spec looks a lot better than the Cannindale but I might be wrong?)

The voodoo seems to get good reviews but its gone up in price by £50 since last month and months before that I think people got them for under £400. Also you get quidco with halfords.

Was very disappointed with the Voodoo,looked and felt very cheap! Whilst i was in Halfords I was looking at the Boardman comp MTB but as it only goes upto Large it would of been a bit small.
