Why are my cleats creaking?

Bit of a funny one this.

Currently running Shimano 105 SL pedals, so far they have covered 2.5k and the bearings still appear to be nice and smooth.

I've recently replaced the cleats on my shoes and up until my last ride they were all fine, now in both shoes they appear to be 'dry & creaky' within the pedal, it's the kind of feel which can drive one crazy on a ride!

I've checked all appropriate bolts for tightness and even sprayed a good dose of GT85 on them.

help!

If you put the old cleats back on, do they creak too?

The old cleats were replaced due to one of them disintegrating.

I should probably add that I do minimum walking on the shoes as well.

Put a little bit of WD40 on the contact point of the cleat, that usually sorts them out for a while

On the pedal or on the shoe? Mine are doing this also. Only started last night though.

There is no play in the shoe so I'm guessing it's the slight movement within the pedal itself. Adjustment of the pedal has not changed and I'd describe the tightness as 'somewhere in the middle'.

Whether this is correct or not I spray a little GT85 on the cleat and the pedal, they used to creak like crazy which used to drive me nuts, not heard a squeak since starting this process though

a little on the cleat where it touches the pedal, i just spray a little on my finger first then dab it on.

Yep, WD40 or GT85 on the cleats tends to stop the creaking. I think it is down to cleat and pedal wear as they don't seem to do it when they are newer.

My 105 pedals are hammered and they creak like mad unless I GT85 them every week.
