Anyone else out today? The rain certainly made things interesting. I nearly did a Cancellera as I overcooked a decent and headed straight for some bushes hehe

I did 80 miles around similar part of the world as your sportive. Nice day till it rained.

Did a lot of easing off to let people get back on etc, think I could probably 20 mph that route on my own, might try it when I have a free Sunday.

Nice. Toys Hill looks interesting. I don't tend to leave Sussex on my rides, bit too far to go to get up to Surrey.

Toys is a good hill. I ran out of gears on it though. Think I need a 36x27 to go well up there. Cadence was in the 50's on the steep ramp.

Must be nice to have people to ride with (even if they are slower than you)

I got lucky and found someone that was riding a similar pace to me in the first ten miles, then we just stuck together for the rest of the time. Handy for the moral support, if nothing else.

I've no idea how my bike is geared, I know I run out of legs before I run out of them though.

There are a few in the club that are good riders and are similar level. Only one of which was out today. He smashed me up toys hill. But weighs 20kg less than me.

I weigh nearly 90kg (because I'm a fat bd hehe) so I don't go up hills as quickly as most of the whippets I see about.

I do descend like a fking stone though.

He's a very small chap. I'm around 79kg now. But I doubt he's much over 60.

I'd be decent uphill if I could drop some more weight. Not easy though.

I was on the Howler too, but was only able to do the fun 40 route due to family commitments. It was my first one as only been cycling since May. Really enjoyed the ride, despite the sh*tty weather, certainly made some of the descents interesting! New wheel set certainly helped!

Shame you only did the 40, the fun hills were after that split!

Errrr, yep. The drags were quite long enough thank-you. Especially for someone whose only been cycling 2months... Quite pleased with my time though, officially was 2.33 (silver standard); un-official (taking out a prolonged feedstop) I was 2.26 (should've just pi$$ed myself en-route).

Will be doing the next one on the standard distance, I lost time riding the last 14/15 miles from the feedstation solo could've done with a bit of help even if just to see people in the distance!
