BMC MTB Hardtail Advice - other options?

Hi All,

I wonder whether you could offer some advice?

I have my cycle to work voucher en route to me for the value of £1000 at Evans Cycles. I almost definitely want a hardtail as I think I can get a fairly decent one for my money as opposed to a lower end full suss.

The bike I like the look of and have tried out is the following:

From a bit of Googling there doesn’t seem to be many reviews of it though. Could anyone offer some insight into the components and whether I could possibly get anything better for £1000 or less, from Evans. Nothing over a grand please.

To give you an insight, I did some mountain biking in the Doethie Valley in Wales a few weeks back which got me back into it after 14 years when I was 16. Used mainly for XC, singletrack, fire roads, with the odd trail (nothing orange though!)

I'm looking at upgrading my current MTB at the moment thanks to this scheme, but you do know the £1,000 voucher (or any voucher amount up to £1,000) can only be used against a full price, non discounted bike don't you?

So the price for the bike linked would be £1,200

I thought this but asked in two different Evans and they do honour CycleScheme vouchers on sale bikes.

Thats really handy to know. (Cycles UK wouldnt allow this)

I just found it clarified on the FAQ section of Evans website too:

What bikes can or can’t I buy?
Your new bike must be used for commuting, and therefore suitable for this purpose. Road bikes, Hybrids, Mountain Bikes, folding bikes, commuting bikes… these are all fine. Children’s bikes are not available via Ride2Work. Any brand of bike, and sale bikes can be purchased.
