Quick question about cleats

Complete noob when it comes to road bikes and the gear.

Borrowing someone's road bike, not too sure on what pedals it has on but I need some shoes to fit it. The shoes that the person who owns the bike wears, have sm-sh51 cleats on, so simple question, what cheap cycling shoes will these cleats fit on?

Hope that makes sense but I've had a few drinks.

I was wondering that, for example http://www.sportsdirect.com/cycling/muddyfox-rbs30... seems to have the same fitting as well as the 3 bolts in a triangle, would these not be suitable?

How much difference is there between road shoes and MTB shoes beyond the actual cleats?

MTB shoes will have a knobbly bottom (snigger) to give grip on soft ground. Road shoes have a smooth bottom.

I wouldn't think you'd want to fit MTB cleats to a road shoe then? It would put all the contact weight of the front of the foot on the cleat alone, and wear it out in no time.

Personally, I have MTB shoes for all my bikes, as I prefer being able to walk normally when I'm off the bike too.

Same here, but with mtb pedals on my road bike.
