At around £400, it's not cheap, at the moment.
Economies of scale will hopefully kick in, at £150 it makes a lot more sense.
It looks a bit warm for summer use, and quite bulky for roadies.
How would it cope with use on an MTB course?
Good idea in theory. Hopefully they can make it smaller, cheaper and ensure it only goes off when needed.

Traditional helmets aren't multi-use either, although I suppose you can fall off, not hit your head, and use it again, whereas you couldn't with this one. Doesn't seem like a particularly neat solution, fine if you're a hippy rider and normally ride with a massive scarf around your neck but I can't see Wiggo or Cav wearing one

I'm quite happy with my Bell, but for someone who can't stand the embarrassment of a cycle helmet whilst wheeling down to starbucks....
It deserves to do well; I hope all the Nottinghills buy them and bring the price down.

It would be interesting to know how sensitive it is to movement, i.e. if you drop something and lean over your bike to pick it up, does it go off? If you flop onto your bed when you get home, does it go off? It's probably the type of thing that you forget you're wearing, until it goes off when you're not having a crash. Is there enough air in it to stop your head going all the way through the airbag and hitting the other side (i.e. the road or car)? Car airbags contain a lot more air infront of your face. We need more info

Possibly, with alot of developement it might be usable for urban fashion victoms who want to ride their single speed to the shops but totally useless for road and MTB use IMO.
FWIW its not very original either, motorcycling clothing manufacturers have been working on airbag jackets for years and a Japanese firm has had an airbag backpac to protect old people in falls for a while.

I never used to be a fan of helmets because they were hot, heavy and uncomfortable. I therefore didn't wear one. New ones are much better but then I haven't bought a cheap one so they may well still be the same at the bottom of the range? I think the crowd that would buy these are less worried about safety and more about what they look like.
