I am asthmatic and with all this dry weather have been suffering on group MTB rides. Does anyone have any experience and thoughts about wearing one of these?

Wouldn't it make breathing more difficult?
I used to wear a Respro Bandit anti pollution scarf, but that was just for cycling in winter.
