New bike arrived - Pashley Sovereign!

I've given up cycling as a sport/pastime, got a bit bored of the quest for the latest gadget etc. I took up serious running again for exercise, can easily run 50 miles a week & it only takes an hour or so out of the day. I found I had to cycle for hours to get any real benefit & I had too much DIY beckoning me, so this spoiled it a bit! Cycling is now for convenience, popping down to the shops & the occasional potter around local lanes if I need a bit of fresh air (when the Eastenders theme tune comes on!). I decided to sell the MTB/CX & Road bikes & surprisingly got a decent price for all via auction site. Only lost around £100 from the new price of each one & nobody messed me around. I now have a lot more garage space to fill with junk that will be useful one day...
I kept the Brompton as great for the days I need to train into London (its still my favourite machine) & replaced the rest with a nice new Pashley. Its as heavy as a garden gate but great for my needs. The weight will help strengthen my legs for running. The paint & metalwork looks like it will last for ever. No SPDs, just good old fashioned pedals. Its quite liberating just to jump on the bike & go for a leisurely ride without faffing about with special clothes & shoes. I dont even bother wearing a helmet, I survived my youth before they were invented so living life on the edge now..

It's a shame you've given up serious cycling, i'm sure you'll be back! Lovely bike though, recently bought my other half a Brittania, gorgeous looking thing and will probably last a lifetime. Got my eye on a Guvnor now...
