A bit of help with Market Research

Hello PH,

As some of you may be aware I have just started road cycling, but when I was looking into insuring my new bike I have been a disapointed with either the cover available, or the premiums on offer.

With this in mind I'm looking into developing other options (given I'm an insurance broker), but the first stage is a little market research.

I would be most appreciative if a few of you could spend 2-3 mins filling out the following short survey, so I can gauge the market, and hopefully develop the right product at the right price.

Out of interest what disappointed you with the level of cover? I add my bikes to my Sainbury's house cover and it seems okay to me.

Done, but I havent got mine covered this year, for the first time in many years, as it was taken off my policy, so living the risk............But I have accidental damage on anything on my premium contents insurance if one breaks in an accident.

A) a lot of insurers wont add bikes, especially over £1k in value, and exclude competitive use
B) on my brief shop round for stand alone cover, coming from an insurance background there seemed to be too much cover in some areas ( to make the products seem good) and lacking in others.
c) the quotes seemed to be a tad expensive

eg this is an exclusion under sainsbury's home insurance even if the cycle is named

"Loss or damage while any pedal cycle is being
used for racing, pacemaking or trials. "

Starting to get a good number of responses now. Some interesting results so far.

Would be useful if any of you could post the link to the survey on other forums, in particular onto cycling forums, so we can get the sample to over 200.

Although I seemed to have a bit of a problem completing the survey since when I clicked on an option, the circle didn't 'fill', or box didn't tick. It may be my browser, as I tried both Chrome & Firefox? I could try it again when I get home if the above means that my survey is void.
