Correct Frame Size?

Hi guys, I have spotted a nice Cannondale Hardtail Mountain Bike for sale on Ebay and i emailed the seller to ask the size of the bike. I told him I was 6 ft and 110kg (like a Rugby Player) and he said it would be fine as he is 5ft10 and 110kg and is perfect for him. He finally emailed me back saying it is an 18" frame.

Would that be too small for me? I think my last bike years ago was a 19"/Large.

Would I be sorry I bought it and not waited and found a 19" or would it be fine? I am only riding on paths and stuff not anything too serious.

Every manufacturer is different with sizing. What maybe an 18 inch frame, maybe correct as they may have raised the bottom bracket for ground clearance etc. Have a look on Cannondales website and see what size they recommend for you. Other alternative is to have a mocchie at a local Cannondale stockist and see what fits, although a bit cheeky, just say you are looking.

My problem is getting to a shop. I work some silly hours. Anyone here think 19" is what I need or will the 18" do?

It'll be fine. I'm 5'11" and ride a 17.5" and some similar sized people I know go smaller.

Frames generally have got more compact and you have quite a bit of scope to adjust length via different bars or stem.

I'm 6'3 and ride a 17 inch orange p7 pro, fits fine, smaller frame is more chuckable too, just get a longer seatpost.

Depends on the use too.

My Hardrock is a 19inch frame. When I use it off road at Swinley this size is ok but I could have gone smaller and might get a smaller frame for my next one.

On the flip side, On road to work I wish I'd gone bigger .

I'm 6ft and half an inch and have used my sons 18" C'dale F900 for a good few years quite comfortably on both easy stuff and trail centre.

as has been said above - EVERYONE is different and you should really invest the time in a bike-fitting to determine the correct size for you.

Arms, legs, bodies are ALL different - what might fit one person of the same height, might not fit another properly.
