ride 100 london

has anyone entered the ballot for ride 100 in London next August.

Not the 100, but we've got two teams entered in the business relay, London office vs Guildford office.

I would have entered the ballot otherwise.

I put my name down ages ago but reading in this months Cycling Plus the so called ballot is being worked out on a "how fit are you" process. The way I read it is if you cant ride or dont have time to at least once a week with high mileages your not even in the list to get picked. Not quite a ballot IMO

Well, to be fair, it'd be a bloody shambles if 10,000 people out of the 25,000 get to 20 miles and jack it in "because actually 100 miles is a bloody long way".

Although I'll be livid if my entry gets rejected because I've never done an "organised" 100 mile ride before, because I will have done the prep...

Fully understand they do not want too many people dropping out as they cant complete the distance. But like you I have never ridden 100 miles on my own or at an organised event. Closest is 85 but I do go out every weekend whatever the weather and do at least 60 miles over many Sussex hills so feel that with another 10 months training it should be a breeze, especially on my new carbon steed lol

which you would have been able to find if the PH search wasn't borked (c'mon PH - we are still waiting), but I guess it's just a waiting time until we hear if we are in or not.

If you've done 85 I'd be surprised if you couldn't do 100 tomorrow. I did one 42 mile, a couple of weeks of 12 mile each way commutes and then 65 (flat) miles in a day with no trouble at all.

Finally got around to entering the ballot last week, it looks like a really good event.
Hoping we will have the PH jerseys by then as well!
