Replacement Bike

As some of you might have seen my bike was stolen and rather than mope I want to get a new bike sorted.

I popped to the LBS today and they were very helpful. They suggested the Bianchi Impulso which is approx £1200. This would include 1st year service, a bike fit, inner tubes, bottle and cage etc.

My question would be if you had £1200 to spend what would you be looking at or would that be a good bike?

there are better bikes out there for the money but if you like the bianchi buy it. you can over analyse these things imho. However, if you did want an alternatve, i'd be looking at the Cannondale CAAD8 with 105 here:

If you don't mInd buying direct, I would wait a week until Canyon announce their 2013 pricing. Best value bikes without any doubt.

Good spot, my brother is after a 58cm supersix which they don't have.

Where else has them at that price?

Thanks for all suggestions so far.

After looking at the Bianchi I popped over to Giant in Guildford and looked at the 2013 Defy 1. I guess it's a pretty populist choice but it gets great reviews, 105 groupset all for £1,000. Also included is lifetime warranty on the frame and Giant do 10% of the value of the bike in free accessories. They also include a bike fit of some sort.

I'm leaning in that direction at the moment.

PedalOn have cannondale supersixs at £1250 for the apex equipped one and £1400 for the 105.
Good service from them as well. also do 12 month interest free.

I love mine. Very light and the SRAM kit is very good.

I got my Supersix from Pauls Cycles, was in 58cm and I don't think they had any showing when I bought mine either, worth ringing them maybe?

No experience of Bianchi's, but Dizzee, didn't you find out that your wheels were made of cheese and you had a nightmare getting replacement spokes etc? I would say for £1000 - £1200 you could find much better. Does it have to be carbon? If not, look at a Canyon or a CAAD 10

Nope, doesn't have to be carbon, that's why I'm leaning towards the Defy 1 now. I've looked at Canyon etc and everywhere is out of stock.

Anyone had any experience with Giant?

Friend has a Giant TCR Composite 3 and likes it a lot, from all reviews I've seen they come out pretty well.

If you are looking at a Giant with your budget, I'd look at something like...

I as going to mention that.

For £1200 I'd be finding a CAAD10 with 105 or Supersix with Apex.

Or a Cube of some description, they're gorgeous.

Don't believe for a minute that because they use the same wheels on an expensive bike that it makes them decent, you have to spend thousands and thousands with the mainstream bike brands to get a set of wheels that are worth more than £200 on their own. Terrible.

£1200 was more than I was initially looming at. It was more that the LBS bike came in at that price so thought I'd use that as a starting point. I'd prefer closer to £1000.
