Creaking

My new Cannondale SL4 has developed a creak when pushing on. It still creaks when standing up so i dont think it is from the seat/seatpost. Any ideas what could be causing this? The bike is a couple of months old and ive done about 170 miles.

It could be a multitude of things, the usual suspects are;

Chainring bolts
Bottom Bracket
Grease the pedal threads
Cleats (if you are using them)

Check the bolts are tight in your shoes before you start taking the bottom bracket out!!

Thanks,defiantly not the cleats as I just tried riding in trainers. If I hold the brakes on and push down on one side and then turn to the other pedal and push down again it clicks and feels slack (unable to think of a better description). The bike went for a service today and the mechanic said that the chain had too many links so he removed a few. It did creak very occasionally before the service but it seems worse now. I'm going to take it back tomorrow and see what they suggest?

Also try lubing up seat rails, quick release skewers and seat pin. You'll be surprised where these squeeks and creaks come from.

Do all the things listed above. If this doesn't sort it, then have a read of all the other threads on creaks/rattles/groans.

All sorted,bottom bracket was removed,greased and tightened by the shop today,mechanic said they "forgot".
Anyway,just happy it wasnt my knees
