Surrey Hills GPS tracks wanted

Morning all,

I've got the day off on Friday, and the weather forecast is looking good, so I fancied spending the time between the school runs off road in the Surrey Hills.

Problem is, whilst I know the trails on Leith Hill and Holmbury Hill pretty well, I've never linked them up on a ride before, and given that many of the rides on Holmbury Hill in particular aren't official bridleways, I'm struggling to put anything sensible together with OS maps on my Garmin.

Does anyone have any decent loops I could snaffle? Inclusion of Pitch Hill would be good too, as I've only ever ridden that behind others at night, so don't actually know where to start.

I'd say I'm probably looking for something around 20 to 25 miles.

I tend to just look on the Explore tab on Strava.

I've found loads of trails in my local area from that. I knew they were in there somewhere and I'd ridden them before it was just working out where I was at the time!

Chris, I used to ride around there quite a lot over the years, but haven't been there for 12 months thanks to metal work installed in my shoulder and a instruction to give it a miss until they remove it. I'll see if I can work out some for you that we use. If you look at O/S maps you can piece link trails and roads to get you to each hill.

Ouch! Sounds like "Smack" was the operative word at some point!

I know the individual hills reasonably well. Where I struggle is in figuring out where the unmarked trails on Holmbury in particular link in to the marked trails elswhere!

The good news is that whilst Stongle's post of a road route miles away wasn't immediately pertinent, it did remind me of Garmin Connect, and there's a good few trails to download from there, so I reckon I'll be fine.

I'm almost offended. If this was a US site requesting trails in England, you're lucky I don't suggest somewhere in the Pyrenees!

Are you sure about that? Last time I looked (today!) I was feeling disappointed that I couldn't take the day off work and go windsurfing.

Just for clarity, good windsurfing weather is not good cycling weather!

I've not checked the wind for Friday, but not much of an issue really, as I'll be riding off road, mostly in pretty dense tree cover.
